Steps for troubleshooting and best settings for laggy connections - Raspberry Pi 4

I came over from: ICE failed for component 1 in stream · Issue #1354 · meetecho/janus-gateway · GitHub

I didn’t post anything on there but I am having trouble finding info on troubleshooting and understanding the options in general (janus.cfg). I read through the example janus.cfg which was pretty helpful.

My info:

  • Many Raspberry PI 4’s
  • Static IP’s using (1 to 1 nat for assigning the IP)
  • Connection works randomly, but usually once its working it stays working
  • Connecting from far away (Europe > USA)

Questions:

  1. Standard troubleshooting process? (today I increased log level in the settings where I could)
  2. What are some settings I should look into for high latency connections with many network hops? (Its one user connecting at a time and its the only thing the Pi is working on so I dont mind maxing out memory/CPU on the Pi for this.)

Logs are mostly useless for that. Use the Admin API or event handlers.

Overlooked the api. Will look into it. Thanks for the reply and for your work in general!

Edit/Side-note: The search feature on the blog seems to be down by the way.

I know but I haven’t been able to fix it, as I’m not a Wordpress expert.

I’d be willing to help with it. Otherwise if people want to search the site they can filter using google. eg: site:meetecho.com nat
